Cinematographer: Tsui Hark

Tsui Hark - Though I envision my project to be a slow cut project, Hark's style (especially in Warriors from the Magic Mountain) reminds me a lot of some of my own ideas for the project. I like his use of color and light, specifically behind the actors. I have taken lots of inspiration from Kill Bill, and some art that I have seen on the internet over the summer, giving me ideas of interesting backlighting and silhouette ideas. Tsui Hark has added backlighting with shapes to this list of ideas. Due to the mysterious and curious nature of the idea to my project, I am also open to trying unusual camera angles, as Tsui Hark has done.

Here are come of my favorite frames from Zu Warriors from the Magic Mountain

Here are some similar inspiration samples I have found from various artists online

Something Interesting:

I tried recording this short video of a cologne bottle in a fast paced style similar to Tsui Hark.
